| In today's competitive and global market place, manufacturing companies are forced to optimise their production at an ever-increasing rate. However, it is still common practice that specialised staff groups improve only one aspect (for instance, technology). This will cause sub-optimal results. Therefore, a participative and more integral approach is developed (PSIM).
Activities are grouped into work packages:
1. Needs: Three companies define their needs.
2 Ontology: A language is developed to digitally model the enterprise.
3 Tools: Two tools will be developed: a socio-technical one to help developing an optimal organisational structure and a ergonomical one.
4 The "navigator", needed to make the PSIM system usable for different participants.
5 Integration with ERP by substracting data from ERP systems.
6 Validation: field test at the pilot sites.
The first results show that in three assembly departments more than 20 improvements were discovered by applying PSIM. |
