| The European farm animal breeding and reproduction organisations organised in FAIR (Farm Animal Industrial Platform) will develop, discuss and implement a Code of Good Practice for Farm Animal Breeding and Reproduction. SME representatives will develop the technical elements for the Code, are search organisation will develop the ethical and society elements needed in the Code, an organisation will develop the certification requirements, and another one will develop the communication elements and strategy. The draft Code will be discussed by the European breeding and reproduction organisations in a workshop, after which the Code will be developed further into a final Code. Furthermore, European breeding and reproduction organisations will receive training on the implementation of the Code in their organisation, along their wishes as an informal Code or as a Code recognised and controlled by an independent body. The Code will be available at the FAI P web site, and disseminated to breeding and reproduction organisations and, among others, policy makers and society organisations (e.g. environmental, welfare and consumer organisations). In the future, FAIP will take the responsibility for the maintenance of the Code. |
